I sat down to write an MMA piece and realized the only topic
people care about right now is Anderson Silva-Chael Sonnen II. So I decided to
add some more words to the fire when a second realization came over me. Sonnen
and Silva have said it all. There is not much more that can be said.
Sonnen has insulted Silva every way Sonnen’s brain can think
of:
“Let
me ask a question, instead of fact or fiction, let me make it A or B. A) Will Anderson Silva go as a duck for Halloween
this year or B) will he dress as a chicken? I’m going to go B. I think he goes
as chicken because he already has the costume.”
“Yeah he’s just a person. You
hear those things but they told us that about Mike Tyson too and what a wimp
that guy turned out to be when he finally got some real competition. He’s kind
of like the Mike Tyson of our era where they say certain things but at the end
of the day when they lock that cage door he’s not going to have a friend and
he’s not going to have a two-by-four and I’m sure he could use either one when
I get my hands on him.”
Silva kept his demeanor, saying Sonnen’s comments didn’t affect
him. That was until he lashed out with these comments of his own.
"I'm going to make him pay," said Silva,
"I'm going to make him eat everything he said, not only about me but my
country, about everything. I'm going to make him pay and make sure he never
disrespects any Brazilian, any fighter."
"I'm going to beat him, maybe, the way his parents
should have beaten him and teach him some manners because he's disrespectful,
he's a criminal and I'm going to beat him up like he's never been beat before.
The game is over, he can say what he wants."
"When we get inside the cage, he’s gonna swallow
every one of his teeth. I’m gonna rip tooth from tooth from his mouth. Every
one of them! After I finish, a lot of people are going to be scared about the
path that our sport is going to take. I’m dedicated, focused, prepared and,
most of all, on a mission to make something that anybody did before at the UFC:
break every single bone of Sonnen’s body. He’s gonna walk out with his face
broken, arms broken, legs broken. I’m gonna break him up entirely. He’s
listening. He’s gonna get his ass kicked. He’s gonna get a beatdown. He’ll need
a stretcher to get out from the Octagon!”
This all leads to UFC 148 and what will be one of the
most highly anticipated rematches be in combat sports history. One thing is for
sure, they will both come motivated.
Why Junior Dos Santos lost at UFC 155
Written by Kevin Early
For all of you who tuned into UFC 155, you saw a good card including a fight of the year candidate, Lauzon vs Miller. What you also saw was Junior Dos Santos get dominated like never before. While most people probably came away impressed with Velasquezs' performance, I, on the other hand, was not blown away but was disappointed with how Dos Santos fought.
