In response to whether or not Wanderlei Silva should retire:
“Whether Wanderlei should retire or not, that’s a decision that should be made by him and his camp. I mean, he came out stronger and it was a great fight. Obviously, he did a good job, otherwise I would be able to remember all five rounds. He dropped me and I knew Wanderlei was going to bring a good fight like that, especially here in his hometown. So, that is something for him and his camp to discuss.”
In response to the fight being in Brazil:
“To be here in Brazil and fight Wanderlei pretty much in his home town is… I have been in this position before… you know I lost my… Well I didn’t lose my title in Cincinnati but I fought for it the second time when Anderson came to my home tow and defeated me so I know what that feels like. And I know that this is a big fight, not just for him but for his country and for the UFC and all that kind of stuff. Although I didn’t get cheered for I didn’t get booed either. I remember talking to Rob and Neal and Chris when I turned around in the corner and said “Well that wasn’t so bad.” After I walked out and the fans weren’t too bad. This is was a good experience more than any other… I have fought in many other countries for the UFC now and more than any other country I have been in, this has probably been one of the most gratifying.”
In response to moving back down to 185:
Moving back down to 185 again was the… The idea was that enough time has passed since my title fight and if I could put a couple wins together then I could make another run at the title before I retire. That will be a discussion that I talk to Dana about and the UFC in general to see what will be next for me and all those kind of things. That was my intention moving back down to 185 and I am glad that you and probably everybody else notices that I bail the UFC out a lot because (chuckles) I am hoping that that’s going to pay off in the future at some point.”
Why Junior Dos Santos lost at UFC 155
Written by Kevin Early
For all of you who tuned into UFC 155, you saw a good card including a fight of the year candidate, Lauzon vs Miller. What you also saw was Junior Dos Santos get dominated like never before. While most people probably came away impressed with Velasquezs' performance, I, on the other hand, was not blown away but was disappointed with how Dos Santos fought.
